Jiasianpu memorial monument The 9th. On the other hand, they headed southwards to meet up with Jiasian patriots to attack the Jiasianpu sub-district official building in order to rescue several comrades; at the same time, they spread out to attack the Daciouyuan and Shihjhangli stations, in which more than 30 Japanese police were killed.

After the Jiasianpu incident, the Japanese police were desperate and fought northwards from Shanlin station under orders from Kanazawa police department; the patriots had to retreat bit by bit, as by this time, the Japanese police had already lost their sense of rationality, and they killed on sight and burnt down the houses; it was not long before Jiasian turned into the ravages of war, and the elder ones and children from the village had to take refuge in the mountains, while the patriots broke through the envelopment by the Japanese army, and head towards Poniou Lake to meet up with Yu Cing-Fang to continue the activities against Japan. On August 2nd, they attacked the Jiaobanian sub-district official building at Nanjhuang station; on the 3rd, continued to attack stations including Jingpuliao of the same sub-district official building, and Ganzihlin of Damujiang; on the 4th, with Mangzaimang (known as Wangming) Village as the base to battled against Japanese police; on the 5th, attacked Jiaobanian sub-district official building from the base of Hutou Mountain; on the 6th, Japan had backup army, and the patriots had to breakdown and retreat into various valleys. On 8/12, Yu Cing-Fang once again led more than two hundred patriots to breakthrough the Japanese police’s envelopment, and arrived at Sihsheliao after passing the terrain of Shihbiliao; by that time, patriot Jiang-Ding also led his troops to meet up here. However, the Japanese police kept increasing backups, everyone had to spread out and seek refuge in order to preserve power for future uprisings, thus they buried a cannon by the Sihsheliao River as a memorial monument, and said goodbye to each other in tears.
243 patriots arrested and sentenced from this uprising were from Jiasian and Yujing regions, out of which 192 were from Jiasian. Afterwards, in Min-Guo 26 (1937) under the guidance of the Overseas Chinese Salvation Association, Jaing Bao-Cheng, a patriot from this township was responsible for recruiting people to assist the landing of the National army, but the mission failed and approximately one hundred people were arrested and killed. In order to cherish the memory of our villagers fighting against tyranny, as well as the brave accomplishments from those patriots who were not afraid to sacrifice themselves, a memorial monument was established at Liyu Mountain inMin-Guo 68 (1979), which was an important battlefield for Jiasianpu incident, and was also the place where numerous patriots lost their lives. This place has now been reconstructed as Jiasian Park, a perfect place for villagers to exercise at dawn and dusk, and the aura of bravery from the past seems to be with us forever through the sunlight passing through the trees.

Jiasian Park was constructed on the mountain with a low altitude in front of Jiasian specialty street, Wenhua Road. During the Japanese colonial era, the Japanese built a temple here and forced people to worship. During the 4th Taiwanese year (1915) after the Jiaobanian uprising against Japan, the Japan Government specially set up a “Memorial tomb for police killed on duty” at the right side of the temple as a gesture to cherish the Japanese police who were killed in this incident. After the restoration of Taiwan, the Japanese temple and the memorial tomb were destructed by people, and turned it into Jiasian Memorial Park. In the 68th Taiwanese year (1979), a “Memorial tomb for patriots of Jiasianpu who fought against Japan” was established in the park, where people can cherish the mighty spirit of the heroes against Japan while spending leisure time in the park.
